Originally inspired by the sudden death of my father. In the hospital I was at his bedside and he was heavily sedated, I looked out the window and watched the clouds morphing from light to dark, drifting across the sky. When I got the news: my father’s condition was terminal - my grief was so compelling, the sky began crying. Or so it seemed to me, as rain fell suddenly against the window. Only the sky was big enough to encompass everything I was feeling in that moment.
Since then the series has evolved into visual symbolic expressions of significant milestones of my personal life.
I want the viewer to feel the emotions that I was feeling when creating each of these paintings and to feel a meaningful connection that resonates with their own lives.
